Ladybug's Doodles Days and Nights

Here we are with a Dewey's Read-A-Thon update. :D  I am having fun trying to get through my Dickens pick.  :D  It is going slow, but I am steadily working on it.

Total pages read: 400 in Little Dorrit; I don't know how many pages are in the Westerns.

Time I have Spent Reading: 5hrs
What I am Currently Reading: STAR GATE by Andre Norton and LITTLE DORRIT by Charles Dickens
Books I have Finished: BILL CAREY RIDES WEST/THE TOWN NO GUNS COULD TAME by Louis L'Amour (Two Audio Dramatizations of short stories by L'Amour
Blogs I have Visited: about 10, I have been more reading than visiting the 5 hrs working on my reading. :D

Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens and Star Gate by Andre Norton

2. How many books have you read so far?

I have finish two books actually, since I am counting the Louis L'Amour CDs.  I am working on others.

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?

I am really looking forward to finishing Little Dorrit and Casting the Runes by M.R. James

4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?

I have been unable to free up the whole day.  I was able to listen to audio books as I was doing other things though. :D  I think that will count?

5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?

Any interruptions, I just dealt with them and tried to finish as quickly as possible.

6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?

Nothing so far

7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?

I really am unable to usually come up with suggestions when asked.  It is usually when unasked that I give suggestions. :D

8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?

I would try to free up more time, I guess

9. Are you getting tired yet?

Nope. I'm wide awake still.  Ask me in about 5 hours though. :D

10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?

Read-A-Thon

Hour Six:

I have taken care of the problem with comments requiring word verification.  I had disabled the comment moderation, but was unaware that they required word verification.  I am sorry to anyone from the Read-A-Thon.   :D

I am reading Charles Dickens' "Little Dorrit".  This is a really big book O_O with about 980 pages.  I have been reading it for about a couple of months, and have gotten to page 450.  I have decided to start over again, though.  I found that I have forgotten some of what has happened, and "Little Dorrit" is a book that needs to be savored and thought upon.

"When Arthur Clennam returns to England after many years abroad, he takes a kindly interest in Amy Dorrit, his mother's seamstress, and in the affairs of Amy's father, William Dorrit, a man of shabby grandeur, long imprisoned for debt in the Marshalsea.  As Arthur soon discovers, the dark shadow of the prison stretches far beyond it \s walls to affect the lives of many, from the kindly Mr Pancks,...the garrulous Flora Finching, to Merdle, an unscrupulous financier, and the bureaucratic Barnacles in the Circumlocution Office."  ~Charles Dickens' "Little Dorrit"~

 I really agree with the book when it says that "[Little Dorrit is] a masterly evocation of the state and psychology of imprisonment."  One thing I was unaware of was that Dickens' father had once been an inmate of the Marshalsea.  This brings the book to life for me, that Dickens' knows what he is talking about when he describes people, places and the lives they lead.  I am really looking forward to finishing this book and immersing myself in another time and place.

I started reading at 11:00am my time.  I was suppose to start at 6am, but I had a long night so decided that sleep was more needed, so that I didn't fall asleep reading. ;p

This was the questions from Hour One, and I thought would go ahead and answer them.

2. Three Random facts about me...  ~I love reading, I started reading when I was three, I love learning new things.~
3. How many books in your TBR pile?  Four books, but one is really a large book.
4. Do you have any goals?  Yes, to finish Little Dorrit.
5. This is my first Read-A-Thon, so no advice to give, but will accept advice. :D

Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-thon

well, it is time for the Read-A-Thon.  It will be starting at 6am my time.  I will not be up at that time, but I will be starting it around 9am.  :D  Just too early to get up to read, would be falling asleep over my books. :D

Bob Dole - "Great Presidential Wit"

And many, many more.  :D  These are books that are on my reading shelf and to-read shelf, so I wanted to finish them up. Since this is my first try, I don't know exactly what I am doing; but will give a go at it. :D
