Scientists made the discovery, of a shard of pottery, at Tel es-Safi. A dig site in Southern Israel thought to be the location of the Philistine city of Gath. The shard of pottery bears the name of Goliath. The shard dates back to around 950 BC, within 70 years of when David squared off with a giant named Goliath. At this time, this is the oldest Philistine inscription ever found.
